In order to achieve high strength, hardness, and wear resistance in the overall appearance layer of the rack, vacuum quenching treatment can usually be carried out on the surface of the rack. During operation, the rack continuously wears out the outer layer due to mutual meshing, which better and effectively ensures the efficiency of the rack, reduces the degree of wear, and saves costs.



Gear surface quenching process

First, place the processed rack into the sensor coil. When an alternating current of varying frequency is passed through the sensor, an alternating magnetic field is generated on all sides. The electromagnetic induction of the alternating magnetic field causes an open current to occur inside the component. The diffusion of current on the cross-section of the workpiece is uneven, and the current density on the surface of the workpiece is relatively high, gradually decreasing inward. We call this symptom the "skin effect." At this time, the electrical energy of the high-density current on the surface of the rack changes into thermal energy, causing the surface temperature to increase and the surface temperature of the part to rise rapidly. The higher the current frequency, the greater the temperature difference between the current density attached to the surface and inside of the workpiece, and the thinner the heating layer. After the temperature of the heating layer exceeds the critical point temperature of the steel, it rapidly cools down, which completes the surface quenching of the rack.
